Conclusion
This learning unit explored genetically modified organisms by combining biological knowledge with modelling and Augmented Reality. Through the Explore, Execute, and Enhance phases, students analysed how genetic modifications influence organisms, ecosystems, and society, while applying bio-inspired and systems thinking. The use of AR tools supported visualisation of complex processes, encouraged critical evaluation of benefits and risks, and strengthened students’ understanding of biotechnology as a key driver of real-world solutions, inspiring further inquiry into genetic engineering and its impact.
